The Ocean Acidification Community of Practice was initially formed in 2018 as part of Canada's Marine Environmental Observation Prediction and Response (MEOPAR) Network's efforts to form targeted communities of practice focused on knowledge mobilization and bringing together interdisciplinary groups to share resources and advance ocean research and community efforts across Canada.

MEOPAR continues to support the OA CoP most recently as part of their Strategic Science Fund award.
